Welcome to my magical cottage! Home of Moon River Rituals

Here’s where I create personal, seasonal, and Goddess-inspired rituals to help women awaken a personal practice of magic and meaning.

You’ll find rituals, a thought-provoking blog, a boutique of handmade ritual-related items, and links to my two podcasts (Ritual Recipes and My Spouse Has Dementia). Everything here is designed to support your journey through the cycles of nature, the hidden power of Goddess archetypes, and the seasons of a Woman’s life.

Zita is awesome! She is understanding, creative, fun, deeply thoughtful and provides a depth and meaning to all aspects of the ceremony. And she is fun! She had a meaning for every aspect we did – she has amazing powers!

Thank you for your time, sacrifice, and your talent sharing your story….Your account of the last stages was the only thing that comforted me and kept me sane these last few weeks

What is a ritual?

A ritual is a visible act performed with invisible intent. Rituals provide the containers we need to give form to the feelings and transitions that words alone can’t hold. Light a candle. Tie a cord. Offer a blessing. When combined with intention, these simple actions become meaningful symbols to carry our hopes, our grief, our gratitude.

Performing a ritual forces us to slow down and pay attention to our actions. In doing so, we recognize the sacred threads of our everyday life. And we witness those milestone rites of passage that weave the tapestry of our life. We learn to recognize the magic within us.

Over the last thirty years, I’ve created public and private rituals to help individuals, families, and communities in a variety of situations. Here are a few:

  • Infuse your day with intention.
  • Begin a project.
  • Launch a business.
  • Get married.
  • Welcome a baby.
  • Navigate the emotional tide of divorce or loss.
  • Mourn the death of a loved one.
  • Support healing with self-care rituals.
  • Celebrate the seasons, the cycles of nature, the fullness of the moon.
  • Honor the goddess of your ancestors.
  • Invoke the wisdom of the sacred.
  • Claim the power of your age.

What can a spiritual ritual do for you?

A spiritual ritual can help you feel grounded in times of change, connected when you feel alone, and clear when life feels uncertain. Rituals offer a way to mark beginnings and endings, to honor what matters most, and to call in guidance and strength. Rituals don’t fix everything—but a good ritual can remind you that you are not lost, and you are not alone.

  • Rituals can give you a container for your feelings,
  • Connect you to community, and perhaps most important of all,
  • Provide real meaning for the events in your life

We can’t say enough good things about Zita!! I felt an instant connection with her and she put together a beautiful ceremony for us despite a short planning time and us working out of town a lot. She is absolutely the best in her field!! Thank you Zita!!

I am an adult survivor of criminal child abuse. I’m blessed with a compassionate and talented therapist. Even so, I needed something to get me through my days. That “something” is what Zita provided: a specific, achievable ritual that fits perfectly into my daily routine. … Finding hope was not instantaneous or easy. The ritual with the hope it embodied has helped me carry on when other tools failed.

Croning: A Ritual for a Woman of a Certain Age

She’s a woman of “a certain age.”  Our culture thinks those words are better than saying “she’s old.” Well, I am a woman of a certain age. I am certain of who I am,  certain of what I want, and certain of what I have to offer. I’ll be 78 in a few days and…

Romance, Alzheimer’s, and the Alchemy of Ritual

I recently marked the third anniversary of my husband’s death. He had Alzheimer’s.  These days, I find myself looking back through photographs, journal entries, notes I made in the margins of my cookbooks, and the birthday and anniversary cards we gave each other over the years. The passing of time has shaped my vision of…

Yemaya, Part 2: The Middle Passage ~ Aug 25, the Day of Healing

In Part 1 of this article, I explored the connection between seashells and the Yemana, the Yoruba Orisha known as the Mother of All. I shared rituals inspired by cowrie shells, murex shells in general, and in particular, the Venus Comb Murex. With Yemaya in mind, I designed those rituals to help women discover and…
